My opinion on FrozenAlright so I’ve seen Frozen and not gonna lie, it’s a cute movie. It was funny and the animation was beautiful and the songs were catchy. I really identified with Elsa especially, I thought she was a great character in general. With that being said, just movie quality-wise, I personally would have liked more emphasis on Elsa and Anna’s relationship and less of a forced relationship between Anna and Kristoff. I would’ve rather they had ended up as best friends as opposed to a couple, but hey that’s just me. I know a lot of people find Olaf incredibly annoying, but I actually thought he was pretty funny and adorable at that.

Now, onto the controversial biz…. I really would’ve liked if they had made a POC-central movie because Disney simply NEEDS more representation in their films. They need more ethnic diversity and the amount of euro-centric movies is absolutely ridiculous and unexcused/ “But wait aren’t they making Moana, a film featuring mainly POC??!!!?!?” Well yeah, but considering the extremely racist past they’ve had, Disney should be jumping at EVERY OPPORTUNITY to include POC in their movies now, but they aren’t. That’s what’s upsetting to a lot of people.

“But wait, there were POC in the background of Frozen!” yeah that’s nice, but if they had the time to incorporate POC into the background, they could have EASILY put at least one as a significant character. Regarding historical accuracy, they could have used more POC as trade partners. They should be taking every opportunity to include racial diversity and they aren’t.

Now, I’m not Sami or a Sami-descendant. I have no place in commenting on the Sami culture or Sami characters in the movie so I don’t really have anything to say in regards to that.

Also, with the whole “HEY LOOK THE GUY RUNNING THE TRADE POST HAS A HUSBAND!!>!>! GAY RIGHTS YOU GUYS!!!” thing, if Disney really wanted to show queer acceptance, they shouldn’t have used such a subtle hint.

This is just how I felt but I still do appreciate the movie itself.
